Transition and Thrive

Eighteen Years of Impact | A Clearer Vision for the Future
For nearly two decades, Education CHANCES Foundation has been transforming the educational journeys of Boroondara students facing financial hardship.
We've now refined our programmes into two clear and powerful streams: TRANSITION and THRIVE, each designed to address specific barriers faced by students at different stages of their education.
TRANSITION supports students moving from primary to secondary school, a stage where costs can soar to over $3,700. ECF provides $1,650 in the first year and $1,100 annually thereafter, ensuring students start Year 7 ready and confident.
THRIVE continues that support across the secondary years, through three developmental tiers:
Foundation (Years 7-8): Building essential skills and confidence
Development (Years 9-10): Strengthening engagement and motivation
Pathway (Years 11-12): Supporting the journey to graduation and beyond
Each tier provides $1,100 annually, helping students remain engaged and motivated right through to graduation.
These programmes are more than financial assistance, they're investments in self-belief, belonging, and future potential.
Why It Matters in Boroondara
While Boroondara is often seen as a prosperous municipality, local state schools tell a different story. Disadvantage exists quietly in families living in public housing, single-parent households, and newly arrived migrant families starting over. These children sit beside peers with vastly different means, and the contrast can be heartbreaking.
Our foundation exists to bridge that gap; to ensure every student, no matter their background, can participate fully in their education and their community.
"Disadvantage can hide behind even the most beautiful streets. But community can change that."
