Bequest Society Launch

We were delighted to officially launch the Education CHANCES Bequest Society at the MCC Bowls Club in Hawthorn recently.

Our Chair, Nikko Riazi, and newly appointed Patron (and immediate Past ECF Chair) Elida Brereton acknowledged those who have kindly advised us of their intention to leave a gift in their Will to our Foundation and presented each with a bequestor pin.

Guests heard inspiring speeches from a scholarship student recipient, previously at Canterbury Girls’ Secondary College, now at Trinity College at the University of Melbourne; a past parent of two scholarship recipients at Camberwell High School; and a past ECF Board Director and educator.

We remain grateful to local law firm, Danaher Moulton, for offering a free 30-minute consultation to anyone considering leaving a gift in their Will to Education CHANCES. For further information, please contact Dennis Danaher on 0425236316 or email: dennis@danahermoulton.com.au or our Fundraising & Partnerships Manager, Dorothy Donaldson on 0408550844 or philanthropy@educationchances.org.au

Boroondara’s Best Kept Secret

We were delighted to welcome over 100 guests, including local residents, local businesses, current and past ECF Board Directors, representatives from Boroondara Rotary Clubs, local charities, donors, and friends, to our event on November 6 at the Hawthorn Arts Centre.

Our Programs Manager, Mel Key led a panel discussion about the often transformative power of a scholarship on a young person’s life, and that of their family, based on the findings of the Think Impact ’Boroondara’s Best Kept Secret, A Social Return on Investment evaluation for the Education CHANCES Foundation’, commissioned by our Board in 2023.

Grateful thanks to our experienced and engaging speakers, Balwyn High School Chaplain, Jeff Lampard; former Principal of Carey and Trinity Grammar, Phil de Young; and Education CHANCES Chair and past scholarship recipient from Kew High School, Nikko Riazi.

It was wonderful to have Elida Brereton, our past Chair join us via video. Thank you to Elida for your continued support of Education CHANCES and for taking the time to prepare a video.
